READY indicator (green) PAPER indicator (amber) ERROR indicator (red) Panel button Printer is online (ready). • Receiving data via parallel interface. • Printing the test page. Printer is off. Printer is standing by waiting for man- ual paper feed. (Blinking slowly) Power save mode. • Out of paper. Load more paper to con- tinue printing. • Paper misfeed. Clear to continue printing. Insert the 3 tabs of the face-down tray into the catch holes located along the top of the printer unit. Set the hooks that are located on both sides of the tray into the coordinating holes of the printer unit as shown in the illustration. 2. Using the left and right slots in the printer as guides, gently push Tray 1 until it cannot be inserted any further. 3. Attach the cover onto Tray 1. 6
PP8e_1.1.1.book Page 7 Wednesday, June 30, 1999 8:47 AM Setting-Up Tray 2 B5 Letter A4 Legal Executive Step 3 The second paper cassette unit comes equipped with a cassette that can hold up to 500 sheets of A4 size paper called Tray 2. The same unit can accommodate a variety of other paper trays as well (B5, Letter, Legal and Executive). Contact your Minolta dealer to find out how you can add these trays to increase the capabilities of your printer. 1. Remove the second paper cas- sette unit from its packaging, including the protective tape used to hold the various components in place. 2. Remove the protective cardboard packaging from the cassette as shown in the illustration above. 3. Place the printer on top of the base unit. Make sure to align the coupling pins and holes. 7
PP8e_1.1.1.book Page 8 Wednesday, June 30, 1999 8:47 AM Step 3 4. Remove the cover from Tray 2. 5. Press down on the paper lifting plate located inside of Tray 2 until it locks. 6. Align the edges. Place the stack of paper onto Tray 2. 7. Replace the cassette cover and insert Tray 2 into the second paper cassette unit. Note • Be sure to use both hands whenever the cassette tray is removed from or inserted into the Tray 2 unit. • The cassette is designed to remain in the unit during the normal loading and operation of the printer. To remove Tray 2 from the unit, pull it out as far as it will go without force. Then gently raise the forward-end up, and remove Tray 2 from the unit. 8
