Functions
You can individually set ringer tones and notification
tones, wallpaper and menu colours of the cordless tele-
phone. Additional functions such as alarms, timer, birth-
day reminder or a room monitoring function are also avail-
able to you. You can register up to six cordless telephones
with your device.
The built-in answering machine saves up to 30 minutes of
messages. You can record internal and external voice mes-
sages (= memos). You can listen to new messages from any
telephone using the remote control function. With the
VIP code, callers can also reach you even while the answer-
ing machine is switched on.
You can send fax messages in various resolutions to one or
more recipients or a group. You can also poll faxes and of-
fer documents for polling.
Fax Templates
Five fax templates, which you can use, are stored in your
device. With these templates you can quickly create, for ex-
ample, a short fax note or an invitation.
Select the resolution for text and photo in order to copy
documents with your machine. You can also create multi-
ple copies.
You can send SMS messages from your machine if this
service is activated for your telephone line (this function is
not supported in all countries and networks). Received
SMS messages can be managed with the extensive func-
tions of the SMS menu.
Activate notification by SMS to receive an SMS message,
for instance on your mobile phone, when calls, fax trans-
missions or other messages arrive in your absence (this
function is not supported in all countries and networks).
If you want, your device can print Sudoku puzzles in four
different difficulty levels with solution.

Inserting batteries in cordless
telephone
1 Insert the new batteries in the battery compartment
with the positive and negative poles as shown in the pic-
ture in the battery compartment.
Never use non-rechargeable batteries in the
cordless telephone. Follow the specifications in
the technical data.
2 Place the cover on the battery compartment and slide it
upward until it snaps into place.
3 Place the cordless telephone into the charging station.
Never place the cordless telephone into the charg-
ing station without batteries.
Leave the cordless telephone in the charging sta-
tion for at least twelve hours. The batteries will
heat up slightly during charging; this is not dan-
gerous.

Configuring the cordless telephone
Normally your cordless telephone is registered with your
device in the factory. In the starting mode, press _. The
display shows on which base unit and with which number
the cordless telephone is registered.
Unregistered cordless telephones
If you acquired a model with several cordless tele-
phones, only one cordless telephone is registered
with your device in the factory. Insert the batteries as
described above and register the cordless telephones
with your device (also see Chapter "Telephone con-
nections and additional devices", page 38).
