On the bottom of the camera, slide the
battery compartment cover lock towards
the front of the camera (11111) to release the
cover.
Grasping both sides of the battery com-
partment cover, swing it open (22222).
Load batteries so their plus (+) and minus (–) ends are facing as shown
in the illustration.
Close the battery compartment cover (11111), and then slide the battery
compartment cover lock towards the back of the camera to lock the
cover in place (22222).

on the front of the card is pointed up.
• If the memory card eject button is extended,
press it back down before inserting the memory
card.

• Be sure to use the procedure on page E-48 to set the time and date before using the
camera for the first time.
• Failure to set the date and time correctly will cause the wrong names to be assigned
to data files and improper operation of the camera’s date and time stamp feature.
Be sure that you set the correct date and time before using the camera.

Focus operation is complete (the
operation lamp lights green), press
the shutter button.

After composing the image on the
monitor screen, press the shutter but-
ton about half way and hold it there.
• The monitor screen image may become dim when
you press the shutter button half way.
• The camera’s Auto Focus feature automatically
focuses the image.
