The last Monday in March is an important day in China.
It is a day for school safety education. This year, the
day falls on March 25. It helps students learn more about
safety and make sure they are safe. What are some
accidents at school? How can you keep yourself safe? Take
a look!
The main accidents at school are stampedes(踩踏),
earthquakes and fires.
A stampede always happens in crowded places. When students around you begin
to push, stand there and try to hold onto something. If you fall down in the crowd,
put your hands around your head. Move to one side, and bend(弯) your body and legs.
Earthquakes happen all over the world. When you feel everything is moving,
quickly get under a desk and hold on, according to China Earthquake Administration(地
震局). If you are outdoors, find a place away from buildings, trees, and power
lines(电线).
When there’s a fire, leave the classroom quickly. It’s better to put something
wet over your mouth and nose. This way, you won’t breathe in smoke. Many people
die in a fire, not because of the fire, but smoke. It makes them cough and they can’t
breathe. That’s very dangerous! So when you want to get out, you should make yourself
lower to the floor. Then you can breathe some fresh air.

Passage2
Wonder why can get mad so easily while your friend smiles all the time? It’s
probably because you both have difference personalities(性格).
Personality is also about how people think, behave, and react (反应 ) to
everything around them from day to day.
So what makes people think and behave in certain ways?
Part of the reason is that people are born like this. A baby gets its blood
type, genes (基因) and other physical things when it’s still inside its mother.
These things may help decide what the baby will be like.
But one’s personality doesn’t stop here. Family life, school learning and
life experiences can also make you the person you are. This doesn’t mean it’s
impossible to change your personality. You can always try to make yourself better.
Don’t get too worried about your shortcomings (缺点). Just accept t hem. This is
a good way to start making changes.
If you don’t know how to make friends, find out why. Is it because you’re
too shy? Tell yourself to smile at people. Start talking to people using warm
greetings.
Don’t give yourself a hard time about it all. It’s not easy to change
lifelong(终生的) habits in one night. Keep working at it. One day you’ll see that
you can turn over a new leaf and be a new you!

Have you ever spent more money than you were planning in the supermarket? Don’t
blame( 责 备 ) yourself. In fact, supermarkets always do something special to
mislead(误导) you into buying more. Here are some examples.
10 For $10
It sounds like a great idea to you. However, you’ll save the same money even
if you only buy one item(商品). A recent survey has found when people see 10 for
$ 10, five for $ 5 and one for $1, their mind usually feels them into thinking it’s
a good idea to buy more.
Bigger Carts(购物车)
Have you found that the supermarket carts are growing? The bigger the cart is,
the more things you’ll get, so t ry to use a hand basket next time.
Pre-Cut(事先切好的) Vegetables and Fruits
Pre-cut vegetables and fruits look attractive with their colorful packing.
However, they aren’t exactly good for you. Pre-cut vegetables and fruits can be
a lot more expensive than the whole items. Besides, these pre-cut vegetables and
fruits go bad faster.
Where Is Everything?
Shelves in the supermarkets don’t stay at the same place all the time. The
stores are actually doing it on purpose(故意), because if you don’t know where the
items are, you’ll spend more time in the store. More time to look around means more
chances to buy more items.
76. How many examples does the writer give us?
77. What do people usually think when they see 10 for $ 10?
78. Are the supermarket carts growing bigger and bigger?
79. Why aren’t pre-cut vegetables and fruits good for us?
80. Why don’t shelves in the supermarkets stay at the same place all the time?

What do you think of different kinds of reference books(参考书)? We did a survey.
Here’re some of their answers.
Wang Qian
Reference
have
some
books
disadvantages.
Some
reference books show answers to the exercises in textbooks.
This isn’t very good. Students will just copy the answers
directly instead of thinking for themselves. Day after day,
students won’t listen carefully in class.
Zheng Xia
Sometimes, reference books are useful. Some reference books show something a
little bit more difficult than the textbooks. They challenge us and let us reach
a higher level in our studies. So if you want to learn more, reference books are
needed.
Liu Wei
I don’t think reference books are very helpful. If we listen to our teachers
carefully and solve the problems at school, this is enough to grasp (掌握)all the
knowledge. Besides, the school has already gives us a lot of homework. More reference
books will only make us sick of studying. And for some subjects like English , if
you want to learn well, the best way is to speak, not just to do exercises.
For your
reference books
