Approved ANSI Standard ANSI/VITA 62-2016 Modular Power Supply Standard Abstract This standard provides requirements for building a power supply module that can be used to power a VPX chassis. The module will fit within the standard envelope defined for VPX modules in the VITA 48.0 standards. Approved: August 24, 2016 American National Standards Institute, Inc. Notices AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD Approval of an American National Standard requires verification by ANSI that the requirements for due process, consensus, and other criteria for approval have been met by the standards developer. Consensus is established when, in the judgment of the ANSI Board of Standards Review, substantial agreement has been reached by directly and materially affected interests. Substantial agreement means much more than a simple majority, but not necessarily unanimity. Consensus requires that all views and objections be considered, and that a concerted effort be made toward their resolution. The use of American National Standards is completely voluntary; their existence does not in any respect preclude anyone, whether he has approved the standards or not, from manufacturing, marketing, purchasing, or using products, processes, or procedures not conforming to the standards. The American National Standards Institute does not develop standards and will in no circumstances give an interpretation of any American National Standard. Moreover, no person shall have the right or authority to issue an interpretation of an American National Standard in the name of the American National Standard Institute. Requests for interpretations should be addressed to the secretariat or sponsor whose name appears on the title page of this standard. CAUTION NOTICE: This American National Standard may be revised or withdrawn at any time. The procedures of the American National Standards Institute require that action be taken periodically to reaffirm, revise, or withdraw this standard. Purchases of American National Standards may receive current information on all standard by calling or writing the American National Standards Institute. NOTE: The user’s attention is called to the possibility that compliance with this standard may require use of an invention covered by patent rights. By publication of this standard, no position is taken with respect to the validity of this claim or of any patent rights in connection therewith. The patent holder has, however, filed a statement of willingness to grant a license under these rights on reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms and conditions to applicants desiring to obtain such a license. Details may be obtained from the standards developer. COPYRIGHT NOTICE Published by: VITA Copyright © 2016 by VITA All rights reserved. Foreword The VITA 62 Module Power Supply Standard is intended to be used to provide power supplies to VPX systems. VITA 62 defines the power generation requirements for the modules and backplane slots that can be used to create modular power systems, complying with 3U and 6U [VITA 48.0] and its associated dot specifications. VITA 62 standardizes modules for both single- and two-stage supplies as well as energy storage modules intended to extend hold-up times. VITA 62 includes provisions for N+1 failover, VBAT generation. VITA 62 defines a new set of module and backplane connectors optimized for the needs of VITA 62. ANSI/VITA 62-2016 Copyright © VITA 2016. All Rights Reserved. Page 1 of 90
