Preface
In today's fierce business environment, creating better and different image
of the company is a crucial factor for the success of business.
The journey needs to be defined from the customer's viewpoints. Especially,
in car business, purchasing of cars is driven by emotional factors prior to
actual driving experience.
There can be many different aspects of quality in products. CMA's number
one priority is good 'Initial Quality' and 'PQ (Perceived Quality)'. 80pph
(problem per hundred) is the IQS target, and 7.0 level or higher is the PQ
target, which means most of our customers will recognize our Perceived
Quality level is very good and pleasing.
PQ is a critical element in attracting customers to new vehicles. They are
judged by 'SEEING', 'FEELING', 'HEARING' and 'SMELLING'. Especially, as for
new models it is a key ingredient for proceeding to purchasing process.
Over the past few months since December, 2013, CMA Quality Team has
been working on 'PQ' through a collaboration with other organizations
from 'Styling Design', 'Benchmarking activity' to 'Engineering'. We used
scientific approaches from Chinese market survey to the creation of PQ
matrix. The results of the work were formed into the 'PQ Handbook'.

This handbook contains all the important guidelines and recommendations
for new product design to manufacturing. This handbook focuses on visual
expression of interiors and exteriors. The main target model is SUV models,
and the bench mark models were focused on Ford Kuga, VW Tiguan, Toyota
RAV4 and Audi Q3. Many different aspects of efforts have been made from
the vehicle evaluation including PQ experts and designer.
In order to make the guidelines and rules be fully observed and applied, the
specific process and methodology have been explained at the end of the
book including 'Engineering',
'Suppliers' and 'Manufacturing' processes.
And CMA Quality team is going to check 'PQ achievement' at each stage
with 'PQ Check Sheet'.
I appreciate numerous efforts supported by many different function groups.
CMA Project Management (Mr Hu Zhengnan, Mr Tang Huifang, and Mr.
Chen Yuqi) gave us a strong support on this activity. Styling Design teams
located in Shanghai and Gottenburg gave us encouragement for this activity
including PQ modelling guidelines. I gave special thanks to Mr Sten-Åke
Frick and Håkan Abrahamsson. In CMA Quality Team, Mr. Sun Da worked
hard for all the coordination of activities, and put materials in this book,
and that Mr. Kag Houcheon as a PQ expert, tenaciously worked for the
professional evaluation of the benchmarking vehicles. (Due to the limited
space, I cannot mention all the names contributed to the project.)

We are very glad to publish this handbook as the first PQ guideline in Geely.
This is a starting point, and we will continue to endeavour our journey for
the realization of PQ throughout CMA products.
Again, I express my great gratitude and appreciation to all members who
made this initial work possible.
