Chapter 1 Overview
Introduction
Identification
This document describes the changes implemented in Genesis software
version 10.5 as compared to the last major version 10.3. This version
requires the gene105 license.
The get process version number for all platforms is 10.5

New Option Added to Measure Popup
A new option, Angle Between Lines, was added to the Measure Popup.
This option measures the virtual angle between two lines.
For more information, see “Measure Angle Between Lines Added to
Measure Popup” on page 9.
Validate Result Added to Contourization Popup
A new GUI parameter, Validate Result was added to the Contourization
Popup. This parameter controls whether validation is applied to
contourization results.
For more information, see “Enhancements to Contourization” on page 10.
If Validate Result = Yes, run time may increase due to applying
the contour validation algorithm.

Wheel Tool Editor
System
Multiple Wheels Permitted Inside a Single Wheel File
As of version 10.5, you can include multiple wheels inside a single wheel
file. Genesis can extract the multiple wheels into separate wheel files.
Prior to version 10.5, Genesis required that wheel files contain data for a
single wheel only.

New Layer Type wire_bonding
The ODB++ new layer type wire_bonding is now recognized by Genesis.
This layer type indicates the presence of wire bonding connection layers.
As of Genesis version 10.5, this new layer type is recognized when
importing jobs from ODB++ version 8.1.1 [and higher]. During the import

process the wire_bonding layer type is converted to the DOCUMENT
layer type.

Genesis Tested and Validated on Windows 10
Anniversary Edition
Genesis 10.5 was tested and validated on Windows 10 anniversary O/S.
Convert Special Symbols to Standard Symbols
A new DFM action, Convert Special Symbol to Standard, was added to
Genesis. The action detects features with attributes .construct or .i274x,
and then converts those features into standard or semi-standard symbols.

Improvements to RS274-X
RS274-X Reinput: Arcs with Special Apertures
As of version 10.5, the Genesis RS274-X reinput process supports the
iol_274x_arc_with_special_aper configuration parameter. Enabling
support for this configuration parameter allows reinput of data when arcs
with special apertures are encountered during input.

RS274-X ReadIn: Change in Highlight Color if Reinput File
Changes
As of version 10.5, the Genesis RS274-X input process highlights the
input line in pink if configuration parameter iol_inp_reinput=Yes and the
re-input file is different when compared to the first time the file is input.

RS274-X Input: Arc Input with Different Start and End
Coordinates Can be Drawn as a Line or Full Circle Arc
As of version 10.5, the Genesis RS-274X input process can decide
whether to create a full circle arc or a line when it encounters an arc where
the Start and End points are different, and the Center point is on the same
axis.

Improvements to IPC-2581 Input
Genesis Reads All Step Profile Data from IPC-2581 Input Files
Genesis now reads all step profile data contained in an IPC-2581 file and
stores the data in a layer titled step_profile_ipc. This new layer is created
in addition to the profile which was already created during IPC-2581 file
import.
