http://www.paper.edu.cn Performance Analysis of Diversity Combining Department of Telecommunications EngineeringBeijing University of Posts and TelecommunicationsBeijing (100876) Xie Yuan Abstract Diversity Combing is an effective technique to counteract flat fading in mobile communication. This paper provides analysis of three types of diversity combining systems in practical use. These are: selection diversity, maximal-ratio diversity, and equal-gain diversity systems. Quantitative measures of the relative performance (under realistic conditions) of the three systems are provided. Simulations of Single Input Single Output show that performs better than selection combining and equal gain scheme. Based on the SISO simulation, we tested two combining (selection combining and equal gain combining) methods with multiple antennas. The combined signals’ symbol error rates are compared to that of a single antenna. The theoretical analysis is thus verified.
