    1 Introduction 1 Introduction This document explains how to install an SAP NetWeaver 7.3 system as developer workplace. You perform the installation using SAPinst. Before you start with this installation guide, make sure you have read the documentation Master Guide - SAP NetWeaver 7.3, which you can find at: http://service.sap.com/installnw73 Planning SAP Notes for the Installation Before you start the installation, make sure you have read the latest version of SAP Note 1492391. This SAP Note contains the most recent information on the installation, as well as corrections to the installation documentation. Make sure that you have the up-to-date version of the SAP Note, which you can find on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/notes. Naming Conventions SAP system refers to SAP NetWeaver 7.3 11/29/2010 CUSTOMER 5/38

    2 Planning 2 Planning This section includes the planning steps for your installation. You must first: 1. Plan your SAP system landscape according to the Master Guide available for your product. 2. Decide on your installation option. SAPinst Installation Options This section provides information about the following in SAPinst: n Installation l SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio [page 15] l Typical Server Installation If you choose Typical Server Installation, the installation is performed with default settings. The following usage types will be installed in your system: u SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (BASIC) u SAP NetWeaver Product Description (NW-MODEL) u SAP NetWeaver Composite Application Framework (CE-APPS) u SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment Platform (COMP-ENV) u SAP NetWeaver Business Process Management and Business Rules Management (BPM) If you want to change any of the default settings, you can do so on the Parameter Summary screen. l Custom Server Installation You can install SAP NetWeaver 7.3 with the following usage types: u SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (BASIC) Caution You must always install SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java together with SAP NetWeaver Product Description. u SAP NetWeaver Product Description (NW-MODEL) u SAP NetWeaver Composite Application Framework (CE-APPS) u SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment Platform (COMP-ENV) u SAP NetWeaver Business Process Management and Business Rules Management (BPM) u SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Services Repository (ESR) u SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (DI) u SAP NetWeaver Adobe Document Services (ADOBE) n System Copy 11/29/2010 CUSTOMER 7/38
    2 Planning . Choose this option to perform a system copy. For more information, see the system copy guide, which you can find at: http://service.sap.com/installnw73, then choose Systems n Uninstall Installation Installation — SAP NetWeaver Uninstalls an SAP NetWeaver system. For more information, see Uninstalling SAP NetWeaver 7.30 [page 32]. Hardware and Software Requirements for Development Systems Before you start the installation, make sure you meet the hardware and software requirements for your operating system (OS) and the SAP NetWeaver system. Consider the following information: n For supported operating system releases, see the Product Availability Matrix on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/pam. n Contact your OS vendor for the latest OS patches. If you want to install SAP NetWeaver 7.3 as a Developer Workplace, the host must meet the following requirements: Requirement Type Hardware Software Requirement n 10 GB free disk space n Min. 1 CPU with 3 GHz n 2 GB RAM (minimum) n Paging file size: 2x RAM To check the paging file size: 1. Right-click My Computer and choose Properties. 2. Choose Advanced Performance Settings. 3. If required, in section Virtual Memory, choose Change. (32-bit) Supported Operating Systems: n Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit) n Microsoft Windows XP Professional (SP2 or higher) n Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit) n Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) n Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) Supported Databases: n SAP MaxDB 7.8 Note The SAP MaxDB software is installed with the SAP NetWeaver system. n MS SQL Server 2008 8/38 CUSTOMER 11/29/2010
